Ebb and Flow – Massage Therapist

COVID-19 Policy

Updated July 2021

Welcome Back!!!!

It’s such to joy to be able to open up my practice and start welcoming all my lovely clients back again. I have missed my work so, so, so much over the last few months, and I know many of you have missed your treatments too.

There will be some changes to the way things will work over the next few months, in the interests of all our safety. I’ve outlined these changes here, along with a few guidelines I’ll need you to follow too. There are some slightly different considerations for clients attending the therapy room and for clients I am seeing at their home.

Some things will remain very much the same though, I have always taken great pride in my hygiene measures, and used fresh linens for every single client, so, although I’ve enhanced or formalised some measures, a lot will be very familiar. And, as always, every massage is always tailored exactly to your needs, so, as always, you should feel fabulous afterwards!

If You’re Coming to The Therapy Room….

Pre Treatment

Consultation forms should be completed and returned by email, including a health screening before every appointment.

I am currently able to treat you if you are classed as clinically extremely vulnerable, unless shielding policies are reintroduced at any point. With all higher risk groups, but you should obtain medical consent before booking a treatment (this applies if you are over 70, pregnant, have an underlying medical condition, or have a BMI of over 40). This can be from any of your caregivers (e.g. nurse, doctor, midwife, physio). I do not need written consent from them, but I will need you to sign to say they have verbally agreed to you receiving treatment.

Please make sure I have the most up to date contact information for you (this remains crucial for the Test and Trace alert system)

Please check your temperature on the day of appointment (I will too)

Do not attend if any of the following apply (again, this applies to me too)

-Recent onset of a new, continuous cough

-High temperature

-Loss of, or change in, normal sense of taste or smell

-Anyone in your household or support bubble has symptoms.

-You have been advised to self-isolate (for any reason, including contact with a positive case and recent travel)

-Any other symptoms (including headaches, stomach upset)

PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR CANCELLING YOUR APPOINTMENT, THE HEALTH OF ALL MY CLIENTS AND OUR FAMILIES IS THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT THING. PLEASE DO TRY AND GIVE ME AS MUCH NOTICE AS POSSIBLE, BUT I WILL UNDERSTAND, EVEN IF IT IS SHORT NOTICE.

***If any member of your household is currently isolating with symptoms, awaiting a test result, or having had a positive test, I am unable to treat you. If a member of your household is isolating due to contact with a positive case, and you are not required to isolate, I can treat you at my therapy room.***

Please attend your appointment ON TIME, do not arrive early. Please come through to our covered outdoor waiting area and I will greet you and bring you in. (If it is very cold or raining please feel free to wait in your car and text me to let me know you are here

Please come to your appointment alone if possible. If you need a carer, or would prefer a chaperone, this is possible, but please let me know in advance.

Face coverings are no longer mandatory, but they are still strongly encouraged.

Please bring a bottle of water with you, as we are unable to provide refreshments.

Please only bring the minimum of possessions with you.

Please wash your hands as soon as you enter the treatment room, and again before leaving.

I will continue to use face masks during your visit.

Treatment

A physical signature will still be needed before treatment. The clipboard and pen are cleaned between every client.

The latest updates to the Government Close Contact Guidance do not require you to wear a face covering throughout your treatment. Despite this, I would still encourage the use of face coverings throughout, the exception to this being while you are face down on the massage table. I have consulted with my existing client base before making this decision, and found very mixed reactions to the idea of removing face coverings completely. Your comfort and safety, and that of all my clients remain my priority, and so I will be continuing to use a face mask. I am, however, happy to treat you if you have an exemption, or would prefer not to use a face covering for your comfort.

After Treatment

Payments are preferred by contactless card on the day or by bank transfer in advance, but chip and pin and cash payments are still accepted.

Please leave immediately following your treatment. It is wise to sit in your car and sip some water for a few minutes afterwards, if possible, in case you feel lightheaded.

All laundry will be sealed into a plastic bag for each client, and not re-opened until it is laundered. The Therapy room (and all areas a client has passed through) will be cleaned between clients, and the room will be ventilated. I will continue to leave extra time between all my appointments in order to do this.

Please contact me if you later test positive for COVID-19 (this is essential for the Test and Trace alert system)

If I’m Treating You at Home …

***If any member of your household is currently isolating for any reason, I am unable to treat you at home, and if any member of your household is currently isolating with symptoms, awaiting a test result, or having had a positive test, I am unable to treat you at all. If a member of your household is isolating due to contact with a positive case, and you are not required to isolate, I can treat you at my therapy room.***

Face coverings are no longer mandatory, but they are still strongly encouraged.

Please wash your hands after you’ve let me into the house, before your treatment commences.

Please make sure you have some water nearby.

If possible, you should be the only person in the room (and hallway etc) while I am there. Obviously, if, for example, you need a carer, or if you would prefer to have a chaperone, this will be fine, please just let me know beforehand. They will need to remain at least 2m away at all times.

I will minimise the amount of time I am in your home, and will try to restrict access to as few areas as possible. It would, however, be really helpful if I can have access to hot water for handwashing purposes.

Please allow me a few minutes to wipe down my couch, pillows etc and set everything up ready for you.

I will continue to use face masks during your visit.

Please excuse the bin bags! I will seal all used towels/linens into a plastic bag after use, which will not be reopened until it is washed. Please allow me a couple of minutes to wipe down the couch, pillows etc.

I know this is all a little different to the relaxed, chatty, informal, relaxing experience I’ve worked really hard to provide over the last 8 years! But, please be assured – I am still really confident that massage can still be a positive, soothing, effective treatment for both our mental and physical health, even with these new ways of working. If you have any questions, suggestions, worries – anything at all - please, please, please do let me know. This is new to all of us so I’d love to chat!
